Drömmar
Vår allt-i-allo som vi inte skulle kunna genomföra workshopen i Siem Reap utan, mr Sok Samnang skickade ett mail i somras om sina drömmar och mål med sitt arbete. Viss inspiration kan anas från en av vår tids stora människorättskämpar.
I have a dream that one day, through education, Cambodian citizens will be able to understand the world better and to join hands with other nations as friends and colleagues and I believe that English will be the key to broaden the effective communication through the
outside world.
I have a dream that one day I will be able to build the library, English and Computer school for my boys and girls in my village of Cambodia. I strongly believe that Education and the global understanding are keys to success and bring people into the better world; moreover, I believe that the world will become a better place if we live together in a positive way, sharing experiences, knowledge, time, energy and love.
I have a dream that one day Cambodia will become a clean beautiful country as a beautiful natural mountain with green trees. I wish to see my country with people of ideas to help cleaning and to maintain environment. I wish to see every household equipped with the rubbish bin and not only those, but also people with good health and longer
life expectancy.
I have a dream that Cambodia will have a better road connection from one province to another.
I have a dream that every part of Cambodia, the city, the countryside will be installed with the electrical power in a very safe way and situation. I wish to see the electrical wire set up in a proper way, the way that guarantees the lives of people.
Then I wish to see the people of Cambodia will live with a peaceful happy smile and I wish to see they live to share and share to live.

Tänker så mycket på våra vänner där och undrar hur det går med översvämmningarna. Har någon hört något mer?

Visst blir man berörd!
Men jag kan heller inte låta bli att dra paralleller till den forskning som pekar på hur avgörande säkerheten (t ex i begreppsbildning och abstrakt tänkande) i det egna modersmålet är för möjligheten för enskilda individer att dels lära sig nya språk, dels, och kanske framför allt, att bli aktiva medborgare i samhället och sitt eget liv! Jag har full förståelse för Kambodjas (här i Sam Nangs ord) längtan efter engelskan som den självklara kommunikationsvägen ”ut i världen”, men samtidigt känns det ännu viktigare att det kambodjanska skolsystemet blir ett fungerande och trovärdigt system där alla medborgare får tillräcklig kompetens i sitt eget modersmål Khmer för att kunna ta aktiv del i byggandet av det samhälle SamNang beskriver och som kambodjanerna så väl förtjänar!
Å vad jag önskar att TAB fick samverka också med lärarutbildarna i framtiden!
